Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 10 Recap

Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 10After a shocking moment in the last episode at The Red Wedding, “Game of Thrones” is back with is finale. This finale is just like other episodes in this season, filled by journey and conversation. What happened at the last episode is not a problem for many people in Westeros. The Starks are the only ones who suffer, while others only see it as one of Tywin’s plot. Even the reaction is rather quiet, except for Joffrey.

At the Dragonstone, an even more important event occurs. A raven comes and it brings the news about the White Walkers. Davos urges Stannis to keep the zombies in priority, and finally Melisandre approves to it, saying that the real problem lies in the north. Politics is nothing compared to the zombies, indeed.

Many sick things appear in the episode. The Greyjoys find Theon’s cock inside a box sent to them. Robb’s corpse is beheaded, and Grey Wind’s head is placed on I his body instead. Frey’s men continually insult The Red Wedding. Meanwhile, Bran is telling a ghost story about a cook who killed his guest and is turned to a rat. He says that it is unforgivable to kill a guest beneath one’s roof.

Stannis and Melisandre consider Robb’s death as a triumph of the Lord of Light, via the leech. However, other targets are still remaining. Joffrey and Theon are still living. Although Balon Greyjoy has decided to leave Theon to die, Yara insists in saving her brother’s life and leave for the Dreadfort. Joffrey is still a king but he is just damned because the real power is in his grandfather’s hand.

This season is only a half of “A Storm of Swords”. That is why, the finale feels more like a to-be-continued episode, like there will be another episode the next week. Many plots are open. Bran is heading to the North of the Wall with only Jojen and Meera (Rickon and Osha has left earlier). Jon and Ygritte has a very emotional moment when Jon finally fights to get back to Castle Black. Arya is still walking with The Hound, killing a Frey’s soldier on the way. Nobody knows where they are heading. Jaime finally arrives at King’s Landing, where Cersei looks at him with shocked expression. Joffrey is set to bed by his grandfather without having supper. Shae refuses Varys’ offer to leave King’s Landing and Tyrion. Finally, Davos sets Gendry free.

We also get clarification on Theon’s torturer this week, as Roose Bolton tells Walder Frey about his bastard son, Ramsay Snow, who has “his own way” to do things. Indeed, they are even worse than the Lannisters or Freys. There are still some good heroes like Davos, Dany, and Arya. However, this finale shows us viewers that anything can happen in Westeros in the future, and that it is still uncertain whether the good can win. The situation at the last moments is not very good and believe it or not, winter is already here.
