Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 6 Recap

Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 6This week’s “Game of Thrones” has more setup, with a lot of journeys and conversations. People are set up high, before being torn down. Let’s leave Dany and Stannis alone, and fix our attention to Theon who is still tortured painfully. There will be news from all across the realm and a lesson not to overplay with position.

Ros always looks useless in the two previous seasons, but now she’s starting to be interesting as she takes part in many things. Unfortunately, she has to die at Joffrey’s hands horribly, since he is a monster. Ros actually wanted to help another red head, Sansa, but Sansa is stuck in a hopeless situation too. After the cancellation of her marriage with Loras, she’s now preparing to be married to Tyrion and be a part of the Lannisters. This is ironic, since the Lannisters are the one who have caused her so much pain until now.

Many things are changed in “The Climb”, as opposed to the book. Some can work very well, like Jaime and Brienne’s scene. Their scene has now become very touching. While they are in Harrenhal, they don’t really feel comfortable, as Roose are going to separate them. He will send Jaime on his way and “deal” with Brienne (we still don’t what he wants). They both are connected now and separation might seem to be hard for them.

Theon’s torture is still continuing at the “Karhold” by the “Karstark”. It’s a horrible and painful torturing, probably the most excruciating. We still don’t know who the sadistic boy is. The way Theon is flayed on an X-shaped cross might remind us to the Bolton though. This might be a sign, that the boy is one of the Bolton’s men. Flaying also happens on rabbits as well, as Osha and Meera do. Jojen tells Bran that he has a dream of Jon. He saw Jon now in the north, North of the Wall. Meanwhile, Orell is trying to get rid of Jon from Ygritte. Their relationship has been stronger though.

We hear more about R’hllor, The Lord of Light. He has his own plans and involves Thoros, Beric, and Melisandre in them. Unexpectedly, Gendry is a part of the plan as well. Melisandre takes him away, which Arya strongly opposes. She calls Melisandre a witch. Finally, she is left behind, as Melisandre tells her that she sees death and darkness in her eyes, and also the eyes that she will shut forever.

This episode keeps building and setting things up in this series. The big things include some weddings, which are Joffrey’s, Edmure’s, and Tyrion and Sansa’s. It also hints a battle between the Wildlings and the Night’s Watch, and keeps us wondering about the adventures of some favorite characters, like Arya, Jiame, and Brienne. It’s been the sixth episode and there are still many things to be presented. However, this episode has set up some building blocks very well. Just make sure that you’re always on your guard.
